Freddie McLeod Jr., age 86, beloved husband of Jacqueline Ingram McLeod, died on Sunday, April 21, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence.

Born in Pinewood, he was a son of the late Maggie Douglas and Freddie McLeod Jr. Freddie met Jackie, his wife, more than 67 years ago at Calvary Church of the Nazarene. He served on the church board, drove the Sunday school bus and was a faithful member of New Start Church of the Nazarene. He assisted with the construction of both New Start Church of the Nazarene and Calvary Church of the Nazarene. Mr. McLeod served for 20 years in the U.S. Army, including two tours in Vietnam in 1967 and 1970, where he piloted LCU's and tankers. With his leadership and the grace of God, he brought his men safely home to their families. Mr. McLeod always took care of his family, his father and his men. He was loved and will be missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his wife Jackie, he is survived by four sons, Larry McLeod and his wife, Madeline, Craig McLeod and his wife, Tammy, and Steve McLeod, all of Sumter, and Paul McLeod of Georgia; one daughter, Deborah Hicks of Sumter; two sisters, Carol Glenn and husband, Curtis, of Columbia and Faye Everhart of Maryland; five grandchildren, Tim McLeod, Stephanie McLeod, Angel Mickens, Jennifer Hill and Kari Horne; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Buddy McLeod.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Manning New Start Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Steve Cecil officiating.
