Frederick W. "Freddie" Baker Jr., 81, husband of Sara Hill Baker, died on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at his home.

Born on June 16, 1938, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Frederick W. Baker Sr. and Madge Mathis Baker. He was a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church in Sumter. He retired after 43 years from Korn Industries and 20 years in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Baker's Sign and Rubber Stamp Co. He was an avid fisherman and loved to tell his fishing stories.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years; two sons, Frederick "Chris" Baker (Shannon) of Missouri and Michael "Mike" Baker of Lugoff; four grandchildren, Dale Baker (Giorgia) of Missouri, Ashley Berry (Johnnie) of Sumter, and Casey Baker and Dylan Baker, both of Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Connor Bullard, Madison Berry and Hank Berry, all of Sumter, and River Baker and Lavie Baker, both of Missouri; two sisters, Virginia "Ginny" White of Alabama and Evelyn McMahon of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Northside Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Neal Sweet and the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Northside Memorial Baptist Church and other times at the home.
