BISHOPVILLE - The Lee Central High School varsity football team opened its season with a 33-14 loss against Wade Hampton of Hampton on Friday at Stallions Stadium.

Wade Hampton is ranked eighth in the 3A preseason poll of the S.C. Prep Media Football Poll.

Lee Central plays host to C.E. Murray next week.

East Clarendon 28

TIMMONSVILLE - East Clarendon High School opened its season with a 28-6 victory against Timmonsville on Friday at the THS field.

East Clarendon plays at Scott's Branch next week.

Robert E. Lee 26

Heathwood Hall 20

COLUMBIA - Robert E. Lee Academy opened its season with a 26-20 win against Heathwood Hall on Friday at the Heathwood field.

REL plays at Pee Dee next week.

Williamsburg 29

Thomas Sumter 0

KINGSTREE - Thomas Sumter Academy opened its season with a 29-0 against Williamsburg Academy on Friday at the WA field.

TSA plays host to Spartanburg Christian next week.

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

Wilson Hall 3

Pinewood Prep 1

Wilson Hall improved to 2-1 on the season with a 3-1 victory over Pinewood Prep on Thursday at Nash Student Center.

The Lady Barons won by the scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-18.

Gracyn Coker had five kills and four aces. Lucy Matthews and Hayley Champion each had eight kills, while Madison DesChamps and Camryn Bateman combined for 22 assists. Abbie Beatson had 18 digs.

On Tuesday at Nash Student Center, Wilson Hall split a pair of matches. It defeated Pee Dee 21-25, 25-21, 25-14. Thomas Sumter Academy topped the Lady Barons 21-25, 25-21, 25-22.

TSA splits tri-match

Thomas Sumter Academy lost to Pee Dee Academy 2-0 before beating Wilson Hall 2-1 on Tuesday at Nash Student Center.

Pee Dee defeated the Lady Generals 2-0 by the scores of 26-24, 25-19. TSA then topped Wilson Hall 21-25, 25-21, 25-22.

In the Pee Dee match, Logan Scruggs had nine assists, Maci Willets had three blocks and seven kills, Hailey Trimnal had three aces.

Against Wilson Hall, Scruggs had nine assists, Marlyn Huling had seven assists, Lindsey Daniel had eight kills, Karleigh Young had nine kills and Mercedes Byrd had three aces.
