GAYNELL SHULER GARRETT

Gaynell Shuler Garrett, age 95, beloved wife of the late Harold N. Garrett Sr., died on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at NHC Healthcare of Sumter.

Born in Sylva, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Harman Erastus Shuler and Nora Mae Wood Shuler. Mrs. Garrett retired from Chick-fil-A of Burlington, North Carolina, after 15 years. She loved to make cakes, pies and cookies and won several times at the Sumter County Fair for her baking skills. She also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers. Mrs. Garrett was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Burlington.

Surviving are one son, Harold N. Garrett Jr. of Sumter; one granddaughter, Angela Dawn Garrett Hollister; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph W. Shuler and his wife, Annie Mae, of Newport News, Virginia; and two sisters, Ruie Maxine Shuler Dean and her husband, Robert, of Candler, North Carolina, and Shirley Ione Shuler Mills and her husband, Johnnie, of Sylva.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date at Alamance Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, one hour prior to the service, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home.
