Georgia completes sweep of USC

COLUMBIA - The South Carolina baseball team fell out of the Collegiate Baseball Poll after falling to No. 8 Georgia 4-2 on Sunday at Founders Park and being swept in the 3-game Southeastern Conference series.

The Gamecocks, who were ranked No. 22, are now 14-6 overall and 0-3 in Southeastern Conference play.

Next up for USC is Furman on the road today at 6 p.m., followed by a 3-game SEC road series against Tennessee starting on Friday.

Notre Dame 4

Clemson 2

CLEMSON - Clemson dropped from No. 12 to No. 20 in the Collegiate Baseball Poll after falling to Notre Dame 4-2 in 10 innings on Sunday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium to lose their Atlantic Coast Conference series.

The series loss dropped Clemson to 14-5 overall and 4-2 in ACC play.

Next up for the Tigers is a 2-game series with College of Charleston. Today's game will be in Clemson at 4 p.m., while Wednesday's 7 p.m. game will be in Columbia.

The Tigers will continue ACC play with a 3-game road series against Boston College starting on Friday.

USC Sumter sweeps Cuyahoga

The University of South Carolina Sumter improved to 13-14 on the season after defeating Cuyahoga Community College 5-4 and 8-3 in a doubleheader at Riley Park on Saturday.

That came after the Fire Ants were swept by Cuyahoga on Friday.

In the first game, USC Sumter scored a run in the bottom of the seventh for the win.

Jakob Woods had a double and two runs batted in. Kyle Kalick had a double and an RBI, Andrew Isgett had two hits and an RBI, and Kaleb Strader had a hit and an RBI.

Tristen Campbell pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out five to get the win.

In the second game, Woods again had a double and two RBI. Tyler Turner had three hits, including a double, a run and an RBI, Chandler Hunter had a double and an RBI, and Payton Young had a hit and two runs.

Sam Hunt pitched four innings to get the win. Hayden Franklin pitched three scoreless innings to get the save.

Indiana State 8

Citadel 0

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Citadel fell to 7-12 on the season after being swept 3-0 at Indiana State this weekend, capped off with an 8-0 loss on Sunday.

The Citadel will take on Georgia Southern at Joe Riley Park today at 6:30 p.m., and will travel to Rock Hill on Wednesday to take on Winthrop at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs will open up Southern Conference play when they take on Virginia Military Institute in a 3-game home series starting on Friday.
