GERALD C. LYLES

Gerald "Jerry" C. Lyles, 82, husband of Gloria Jones Lyles, died on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at NHC Healthcare, Sumter.

Born on Oct. 30, 1938, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Clifford Leroy Lyles and Agnes Claire Stokes Lyles. Mr. Lyles was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two children, Kim Lyles Betchman and her husband, Will, and Gerald Lyles and his wife, Christy; four grandchildren, Hamilton Betchman, Emma Wynn Brown and her husband, Michael, Anna Lyles and Bryce Lyles; one great-granddaughter, Leni Brown; three brothers, Kenneth Lyles and his wife, Barbara, Dan Lyles and his wife, Dotty, and Bill Lyles and his wife, Shirley; two sisters, Carol Bradham and Jean Redmond; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Fernander and Sybil Gaskin; and two brothers, Harold L. Lyles and Cong P. Lyles.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Alice Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Clay Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home.
