GERALD NORMAN GASKINS

Retired U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Gerald Norman Gaskins, 85, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020.

He was born in Hannah, a son of the late James D. and Dora Evans Gaskins.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Sherrie Anne Gaskins; and a grandson, Jason D. Gaskins.

Mr. Gaskins retired from the U.S. Air Force, having served during Vietnam. After retirement, he served 10 years in civil service. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Gaskins belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Pamplico Lodge 324. He enjoyed fishing, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him lots of joy.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Trebee Gaskins Gaskins; two sons, James Norman Gaskins (Teresa) and Nelson Ray Gaskins (Vicky); a sister, Dora Leon Gaskins Munn; eight grandchildren, Lesa Marie Mosier (Rod), Sara Thompson (Benji), David-Ray Gaskins (Staci), Danielle Hodge (Mitch), Stormy Smith (Morgan), Abigail Ellis (William), Anthony Daubs and Courtney Griebe (Stephan); and 16 great-grandchildren, Will, Addison, Drake, Bella Grey, Gauge, Ethan, Aiden, Ansley, Lindon, Reece, Mason, Charlie, William, Caroline, Hudson and Dayton.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Concord Baptist Church in Sumter, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Gaskins Cemetery in Hannah.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
