Gillis Darren Wilson, 52, husband of Beth Davis Wilson, died on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

Born on Oct. 4, 1967, in Sumter, he was the youngest son of Gillis Lee Wilson and Athlyn Mooneyham Wilson. Gillis was a 1985 graduate of Sumter High School and was employed by Food Lion Inc. for the last 12 years. He was affiliated with the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Bishopville and Sumter.

Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include two precious daughters, Morgan Wilson Grantham (Dusty) and Madalyn Claire Wilson; a brother, Derek Wilson; and a sister, Michele Pope (Jerry), all of Sumter.

Due to the importance of keeping everyone safe during COVID-19, which was extremely important to Gillis, a celebration of life service will be held via Zoom on Saturday. A life in photos tribute will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the memorial service of encouragement with Brother Greg Robinson officiating.

For those who do not have internet access, this program can be viewed at the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

After COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, a social celebration of life will be given in his honor. This announcement will be made on Facebook at a later date.
