A 5-year-old girl is missing after her mother was found dead inside their apartment Monday night.

A suspect, Daunte Maurice Johnson, 28, is in custody, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department. He was seen leaving the scene where Sharee Bradley, 29, was found by a family member inside her Lantana Apartments residence off Carolina Avenue just after 6 p.m. Monday.

It is unclear what, if any, role Johnson might have in the child missing. The girl, Nevaha Lashy Adams, is 4 feet 3 inches tall, weighs about 50 pounds and has braided black hair with colored beads.
