MANNING -- Harold Frierson, 48, of Manning died Sunday, July 23, 2006, in a wreck on Secondary Road 23 (Old Georgetown Road).

He was born Sept. 9, 1957, in Manning, a son of the late George Frierson and Loretta Brunson Frierson.

He was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County and was a 1975 graduate of Manning High School. He attended Claflin University in Orangeburg. He accepted Christ as Savior. He was a member of Beulah AME Church. He was employed with McCoy Nursing Facility in Bishopville.

Survivors include his fiancee, Margaret Junious of the home; a son, Dyguon (Lateefah) Frierson of Sumter; a daughter, Marquetta Frierson of Atlanta; and two daughters raised as his own, Maria Stukes and Denise Jones, both of Columbia; five brothers, Ronald (Shirley) Frierson of Sumter, George Frierson, Donald Frierson, Calvin (Rosalin) Blair, Freddie (Diane) Bethea, all of Manning; two sisters, Diane Blanding of Manning, Patricia Beathea of Bronx, N.Y., two grandchildren; and two grandchildren reared as his own.

A wake service will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning.

The remains will be placed in the church at 1p.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beulah AME Church, Mayesville Highway 76, Sumter, with the Rev. Emanuel Davis presiding, assisted by the Rev. W. J. Frierson, the Rev. Major Lloyd and the Rev. Larry Davis, eulogist. Burial will be in Manning Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be St. James Masonic Lodge No. 2. Honorary pallbearers Beulah AME Church Sons of Allen and Manning High School Class of 1975.

Floral bearers will be Queen of Sheba Chapter No. 2 OES/Barbara Chapter No. 16 OES. Honorary floral bears will be Beulah AME Women's Missionary Society and Manning High School Class of 1975.

The family will receive friends at the home, 1435 Cherryvale Drive, Lot No. 37, Sumter, and at the home of his sister, Elizabeth Wilkins, 133 Nelson Circle, Manning.
