MANNING - Hazel Marsh Dennis Tobar, 84, widow of Thomas W. Tobar Jr., died on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence.

Born on Aug. 5, 1939, in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Thomas Marsh and Corine Gainey Marsh. Mrs. Marsh was a member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church. She loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and working with flowers.

Survivors include six children, Mary Etta Dennis, Walter Michael Dennis (Kathy) and Cindy Dennis Fricker, all of Sumter, David Lee Dennis Sr. (Deborah) of Rembert, Crystal "Red" Hodge of Manning and David Tinow of Mesa, Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, J.M. Gainey, Lee Marsh, Gene Marsh, Marion Marsh and Heyward Marsh.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Bobby Driggers and the Rev. Bill Tschorn. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Keith Ivey, Jacob Ivey, Timothy Phillips, David Barkley, Dale Dennis, David Lee Dennis Jr. and Eric Applebee.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
