Helen H. Geddings, 82, widow of Charles Geddings, died on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at her home.

Born on June 10, 1937, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Hatchell Sr. and Carrie Mae Stevens. She was a member of Green Acres Assembly of God and attended Christian Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include five children, Debbie Geddings Shirer (Jimmy) of Sumter, Brenda Greene of Sumter, Kathy Thompson (Frank) of Sumter, Tammy Lowder (Henry) of Oswego and Denise Rickett (Raymond) of Sumter; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Lois McIntosh (Bennie) of Pinewood and Mary Thomas of Dalzell.

She was preceded in death by a son, Pete Ard.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Green Acres Assembly of God with the Rev. Michael Bowman and the Rev. Tony Porter officiating. Burial will be at Paxville Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. today at Green Acres Assembly of God.

Memorials may be made to the Crosswell Home for Children, 11 Crosswell Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially her nurses, Deanna Thomas-McElveen and Ann Kelien, and her aide, Annette Johnson, for all of their care and compassion.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
