Help Manning's Forgotten Tails Animal Rescue by collecting, dropping off aluminum cans
This little beagle was one of three beagle puppies that were abandoned this week in Clarendon County. A local resident saw a car dropping off the puppies and called Forgotten Tails Animal Rescue. The puppies were undernourished with fleas, ticks and the mange. It took a Forgotten Tails volunteer more than three hours to clean up the puppies.
MANNING - Don't throw away your aluminum soft drink and beverage cans. Forgotten Tails Animal Rescue is collecting aluminum cans with the proceeds from the sale of the cans helping abandoned puppies and dogs find forever homes.
The proceeds from the fundraiser will pay for medical bills and medication for abandoned and homeless puppies and dogs in Clarendon County.
Cans can be dropped off in a trailer located at 9532 S.C. Highway 260. The trailer is at Gintek, which is located on the left side of the roadway just before Lane's Shopping Center.
"We take the overflow dogs and puppies from A Second Chance Animal Shelter as well as pick up animals that are abandoned," said Stephanie Heil, a volunteer with Forgotten Tails. "We also trap feral dogs, loose dogs and abandoned dogs. We also encourage people to give their dogs or puppies to us instead of giving them away or dropping them beside the road."
Heil said that Forgotten Tails is associated with other animal rescue organizations up and down the East Coast that host animal adoptions.
Heil said that within the last several days a concerned resident called them after seeing a car drop off three beagle puppies beside the road.
"They were undernourished," Heil said. "They had fleas and ticks, and they had the mange. It took my son more than three hours to get them cleaned up."
Heil said that they recently found a blind puppy that they would be putting up for adoption.
"These animals will be adopted by loving homes," she added. "Please help by donating your aluminum cans."
