The Manning District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, under the leadership of Presiding Elder Eddie Gaston Jr., held its second-annual Parade of Churches Fundraiser for Allen University Program on Sept. 29 at Pine Grove AME Church, where the Rev. Harvey J. Doctor is the pastor.

The district is comprised of 21 churches located in Clarendon County. To earn "Manning District Church of the Year," churches showcased themselves through monetary gifts and talents which included music, skits, praise dancing and monologue speeches.

Congratulations goes to the Historic Liberty Hill AME Church - the Rev. Robert China, pastor - as the Manning District Church of the Year 2019 Winner. All proceeds go to Allen University, a Christian liberal arts institution and the oldest Historically Black College in the state. Allen University was founded in 1870 by the AMEC of South Carolina.
