Graveside services for Isaac Rhodes will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Aycock Cemetery, Wedgefield Road, Sumter, with the Rev. James C. Blassingame officiating.

Mr. Rhodes, a.k.a. "Jim & Gipp," 63, died on Saturday, May 9, 2020, in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Born in Sumter County, he was the youngest of 11 children born to the late William Gayle and Mary Ellen Rhodes. Isaac attended Sumter High School. He was employed by Brown and Martin Construction Co. and later at Goldkist Co., both in Sumter. In 1994, he joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Sumter, where he began his Christian journey. Isaac was known for his skills as a hard worker and for his fun-loving personality with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Celeste Rhodes, Viola Baxter, Betty Rhodes and Pearl Richardson; and a brother, David "Winky" Rhodes.

Survivors are seven siblings, Bobby Rhodes, Sammie Rhodes, Charles Rhodes, Peter Rhodes, Gloria Wells and Sarah (Michael) Tindal, all of Sumter, and Eddie (Mildred) Rhodes of Havre de Grace, Maryland; a special nephew, Prince Albert Rhodes; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Baxter and Ricardo Richardson, all of Sumter; and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
