On Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at the Loretto Nursing Home, Syracuse, New York, our merciful Father saw that his son, James Arthur "Rambo" Nelson, was tired and he dispatched his angels to bring him home. Born on Aug. 24, 1952, in Sumter, he was a son of James and Lillie Nelson. In 1957, the family relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where James completed his education in the New York City School System. He gained employment with the New York City Housing Authority, where he worked for many years until he relocated to Syracuse after failing health. As a boy, James' parents brought him and his siblings to First Baptist Church of Brownsville, where he was baptized in the early 1960s.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, James and Lillie Nelson; sister, Arleen N. Clark (Edward); eight children; 10 grandchildren; three aunts, Castelia Wilson, Lucille Rogers and Wilhelmina Sanders; one niece, Melissa; one nephew, Brian (Ashley); a host of cousins, family members and friends.
