James Drayton Sr., 88, was born on Nov. 9, 1932, to the late James Thompson and Marie Clark Drayton. He was affectionately known as "Tiny" or "Here Me." He departed this life on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, at his residence. He was married to the late Inez Porcher Drayton.

He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, he joined Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church. He retired from Korn Industries after 30 years of services.

He leaves to cherish his memories: five sons, Elder James (Rosa Mary), Albertus (Renae), Curtis and Tyrone (Katrena), all of Sumter, and Michael (Kenyatta) of New Jersey; four daughters, Pastor Linda (Darryl) Brooks of Sanford, North Carolina, Minister Beatrice (Willie) Charles, Geneva (Johnny) of Pinewood and Tracey (Maurice) Ashford of Sanford; a son-in-law, Matthew Jones of Sumter; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Lee Drayton of Sumter and Mary (Marion) Carter of Palmetto, Florida; 15 grandsons; 12 granddaughters; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at his residence, 204 Armstrong Blvd., Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with Elder James Drayton Jr. officiating.

The procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. from his residence.

Burial will be at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1379 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville.
