Funeral services for James Edward Bradley will be held at noon on Saturday at New Zion AME Church, 78 Elliott Highway, Bishopville, with the Rev. Archie S. Temoney Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at the New Zion AME Garden.

The public may view from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 S. Main St., Sumter.

Mr. Bradley will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. on Saturday for further viewing until the hour of service.

Mr. Bradley, 74, husband of the late Tillie W. Bradley, transitioned on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at Pruitt Health Rehabilitation Facility in North Augusta.

Born in Elliott, he was a son of the late Walter and Rosa Lee Ruth Bradley and a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School Class of 1965. Mr. Bradley was a lifelong member of New Zion AME Church, where he served as a former trustee and a member of the Sons of Allen. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a former employee of Georgia Pacific Co. of Sumter, Reeves Brothers of Bishopville and Lee County Schools Maintenance Department.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Albert Bradley.

Survivors include three children, Treva Bradley of Elliott, Edward Rodriguez Bradley of Mayesville and Deisha T. Ponder of Columbia; two grandchildren, Christopher Jr. and Delisha Ponder; sisters, Nancy Charles of Washington, D.C., Louvenia (Roosevelt) Wilson of Lynchburg, Margie Bradley of Mayesville, Ernestine (Daddy) Emeruem of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Betty (George) Turner of Cheltenhen, Maryland; brothers, Booker T. Carter and Larry (Diane) Bradley, both of Sumter, Wardell Bradley of Bishopville, Wilton Bradley and Roosevelt Bradley, both of Mayesville; aunt, Bernice Bradley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and dear friends.
