JAMES LEE MOORE

James Lee Moore was born Oct. 12, 1951, in Martin, Florida, a son of the late Carrie Holliday and Gene Moore. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, at his home.

James grew up in Sumter, residing with his sister, Siesta Moore. After accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior, he became a member of First Baptist Church in Sumter, where he loved to fellowship and worship. He worked in the poultry industry for a number of years, until his health declined.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Jenkins; a sister, Siesta Moore; and two brothers, A.J. Moore and Monroe Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Moore of Sumter; two sons, Robert Jenkins and James Jenkins, both of Sumter; two daughters, Lisa Jenkins and Barbara Jenkins, both of Sumter; 29 grandchildren (a special grandson, Dion Jenkins); 50 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Pastor George P. Windley Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Bradford Cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. for viewing until the hour of service.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Sumter Funeral Service Inc. and other times at the home, 322 Council St.

The staff of Sumter Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
