JAMES MCLEOD

James "Chilly" Wilhelm McLeod died in Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, in Sumter, at the age of 62.

He is survived by his parents, James O. and Rosemarie McLeod of Sumter; brothers, Douglas McLeod of Sumter, and Leroy McLeod of Post Falls, Idaho; children, Erica Freeman and Chad McLeod of Sumter and Jerrad McLeod of Seminole, Florida; and grandson, Cohen Freeman.

James was born on May 8, 1957, in Crosby, North Dakota, to James O. and Rosemarie. He graduated from Sumter High School in 1975. He earned a CNC Machine Programming certification from Central Carolina Technical College in 2006. A lifelong resident of Sumter, he was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing whenever he could. He also loved to garden, growing tomatoes and many varieties of peppers and other vegetables. He enjoyed canning and preserving his crops and sharing them with friends and family.

A private service for family will be held at New Hope Baptist Church.
