James "Jim" Richard Glass Sr., age 89, beloved husband of 68 years to Theresa Plyler Glass, died on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at his residence.

Born in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late James Berry Glass and Clotielde Whitley Glass. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired as a master sergeant in November of 1971, after 22 years. Following his military career, Jim worked for and retired from Cutler Hammer. Jim was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church for almost 50 years, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and children's church leader. He was a very devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; a son, James "Jimmie" Richard Glass Jr. of Sumter; two daughters, Patti Glass Wild (Stuart) of Winnsboro and Anna Glass Odom of Sumter; a brother, John Glass (Alice) of Winnsboro; a sister, Rebecca "Beckie" Price ( Ronnie); four grandchildren, Tony Rogers ( Amanda), Ricky Glass (Whitney), Maresa Alfred (Scott) and Ronnie Glass; four great-grandchildren, Robert James Bryan, Cassandra Bryan (Blake), Brooklyn Glass and Reed Glass: two great-great-grandchildren, Connor Bryan and Holten Richardson; and was "Papa" to Layla Rayo, a special young girl.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons-in-law, Tony Rogers and Tony Odom.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Atkinson, the Rev. Jimmy Holley and the Rev. Lynn Gardner officiating, concluding with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
