Janie E. Prioleau Russell Jeffreys was born on July 26, 1954, to the late Samuel and Janie Davis Prioleau. She departed this earthly life on Monday, May 22, 2023, in Baltimore, Maryland, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a 1972 graduate of Hillcrest High School, Dalzell. After graduating from high school, she moved to Baltimore, where she resided for 51 years. She was employed at Montgomery Ward for 20 years, until her health failed and she could no longer work. In 2017, she was united in holy matrimony to Maurice "Casino" Jeffreys and was a loving wife and best friend for more than 20 years.

She leaves to mourn her memories: her husband; one son, Johnny (D'Mika) Russell Jr.; one daughter, Datavia Russell; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Minnie (Roger) Curtis, Mary Parker, Ethel (Ozie) Pearson, Margie (Issac) Bolden and Angela Curtis; eight brothers, William Prayleau, Rodney Prioleau, Micheal (Joanne) Prioleau, Earl (Evonne) Davis, Herbert Davis, Gregory Prioleau, Rickey (Patricia) Prioleau and Dennis Prioleau; godsister, Sandra Blanding; three aunts, Alice and Martha Prioleau and Marie J. Davis; three lifelong best friends; eight brothers-in-law; four sisters-in law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives, all of whom she loved dearly.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 5545 Shakemia Road, Dalzell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at High Hills AME Church, 6780 Meeting House Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Phillip Washington, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. for viewing until time of services.

The procession will leave the home at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will in High Hills AME Churchyard Cemetery.
