Graveside services for Jarele Martez Blackson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 N. Guignard Drive, Sumter, with the Rev. Clinton Ceasar Sr. officiating.

The public may view from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 S. Main St., Sumter.

Jarele Martez Blackson, affectionately known as "Rell-Rell" and "Rell Chapo," was born on Aug. 22, 2001, in Augusta, Georgia, a son of Gregory and Cassandra Rhodes. He transitioned to his eternal home on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Jarele was a graduate of Butler High School, Charlotte, in the class of 2020. He was employed by Show Pros and R&B Lawn Care in Charlotte. "Rell-Rell" always had a love for music and a true zest for life with his inviting smile, kind heart, creativity and love for his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Dorothy M. Turner; and his paternal grandparents, Betty Rhodes and Joseph Dwyer.

Survivors include his loving parents, Gregory and Cassandra Rhodes of Charlotte; one sister, Nykeisha Blackson of Charlotte; two brothers, Jordan Blackson and J'Quan Rhodes, both of Charlotte; his grandfather, Tommie J. Turner of Sumter; and a host of other relatives.
