STATEBURG - Rachel Nicole Jekel and Christian Blake Ward were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at Church of the Holy Cross.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stephen Jekel and the granddaughter of Mrs. Alton Emerson Truesdale and the late Mr. Truesdale and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jekel. She graduated from Wilson Hall and Clemson University. She is employed by C.F. Sauer Co.

The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Allison Lloyd and her husband, Maj. Paul John Lloyd, and the late Mr. Christopher Lynn Ward. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allen McAllister and Mrs. Nancy Standard. He graduated from Sumter High School and the University of South Carolina. He is employed by Kraft Heinz.

Father Michael Earl Ridgill of Church of the Holy Cross and the Rev. Darryl Roger Davids of Welsh Neck Baptist Church officiated.

Music was provided by Mrs. Hamilton Stoddard, organist; Sarah Jekel, harpist and pianist; and Mrs. Caroline Mack Hill and Mr. Jock Hendrix, soloists.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a veil of hand-embroidered floral lace trimmed in silver stones and bugle beads and a designer ballgown of ivory and blush tulle accented with three-dimensional floral lace and featuring a sculptured sweetheart neckline, an open back, sheer three-dimensional sleeves and a chapel train. She carried a cascading bouquet of magnolia blooms and leaves, white camellias, ivy and cypress.

Sarah Mattison Jekel, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Savanah Rae Atkins, Mary Grace Brinson and Collin Wolhar served as bridal attendants.

Mr. Ryan Mathis served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. TJ Clark, Mr. Quincy McGee, Mr. William Lynch, Mr. Josh Joslin and Mr. Chase Toler.

The bride's parents held the reception at The O'Donnell House.

Paul and Allyson Lloyd held the rehearsal party at Serendipity Cafe.

Following a wedding trip to The Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Irmo.
