JETHROE MATHEW COKER

WEDGEFIELD — Jethroe Mathew "J.M." Coker, age 79, beloved husband of the late Ruth Elizabeth "Libby" Alger Coker, died on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, at his residence.

Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Colon Mathew Coker and Dorothy McElveen Coker. Mr. Coker retired from Hill Plumbing Co. after 28 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and was a great inspiration to all people. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Coker was a member of Pinewood Baptist Church

Surviving are two sons, Dwight "BoBo" Coker and his wife, Lisa, of Dalzell and Colon E. Coker and his wife, Jennie, of Pinewood; four daughters, Felecia Johnson and her husband, Danny Ray "Cat," of Florence County, Tammy Schwabenbauer and her husband, Bobby,m of Wedgefield, Pamela Lawhon and her husband, Tommy, of Lake City and Karen Evans and her husband, Mack, of Coward; one brother, Roy Lee Coker of Olanta; along with 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Libby Coker; second wife, Rachel McKenzie; one son, Mathew Luke Coker; one grandson, Kirkland Smith; one sister, Leah Beth Powell; and two brothers, Rudy Alexander Coker and Lamar Coker.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. H. Albert Sims officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home and following the services at the home of Tammy and Bobby Schwabenbauer.
