JIMMY LOWDER
"Jimmy" James Ansley Lowder broke his chains with dementia on the morning of Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, with his wife of 51 years at his bedside.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Riley Lowder of the home; his children, Ansley Hilton and her husband, Richard, of Fort Mill, Rhett Lowder of Sumter and Nancy Hunter Blanding and her husband, Michael, of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Riley, Sam, Cecelia, Kathryn, Emma Grace, Ansley and Woods; and two brothers, Clayton Lowder Jr. of Sumter and Steve Lowder of Mayesville. He is "Uncle Jimmy" to many special nieces and nephews, "Jabbo" to many and a "bubba" to one.
Jimmy lived in Sumter County his entire life, where he made his living off of the land he loved. He did leave briefly to attend Newberry College so that he could continue to play football and baseball. "Daddy" could out-work, out-fish, out-hunt, out-fight, out-run and, when it came to his girls, out-love anyone. He was a man's man and could work all day and hunt all night. Jimmy never went anywhere that he didn't know someone or someone knew him and he made "Hey-Bo" famous before the t-shirts. While his mind failed him way too young, his sweet smile and the sparkle in his eyes remained for many years and it always left you wondering what tale or joke he was remembering.
Jimmy's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church, 5575 Lodebar Road, Sumter, followed by lunch and celebration at Kathy and Jimmy's house in the country, 2145 Cory Drive, Sumter, SC 29153.
Ties and suits discouraged, as Jimmy would want you to come as you are.
