JOAN BAKER BROWN

Joan Baker Brown,  68, was born on Sept. 27, 1951, in Sumter, a daughter of the late Sam Sr. and Lucille Muldrow Baker.

She departed this life on Monday, June 29, 2020, at The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg. 

She received her education from Ebenezer High School, Dalzell.  Joan attended Quinn Chapel AME Church in her youth.

Joan is survived by one son, Tracy; one grandson, Terrence Green;  six sisters, Annie Bell English,  the Rev. Earther (Mozell) Joe, Lucille Gailliard, Annette Brooks, Lurine Farmer Samuel and Francine (Tom) Samuels;  four brothers,  John Ray,  Albert (Fanny), Victor (Shirley) and Jerry (Cora);  two sisters-in-law,  Dorothy Baker and Joan Baker;  a host of  nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is requesting no visitation at the home.

Graveside services will be held at 11  a.m. today at White’s  Cemetery, 1575 Airport Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Heyward Myers officiating.
