LEXINGTON — Joan F. Sagona, Ed.D., beloved widow of Angelo J. Sagona, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
Born in New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Joseph F. Ott Sr. and Angela B. Ott. Joan served as an educator for 39 years at Sumter School District, where she retired as assistant superintendent for instruction. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, gardening and kayaking.
In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Ott; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Ott.
Joan was the dedicated mother of John Sagona and his wife, Ashley, and Paul Sagona and his wife, Molly. She was the grandmother of Jacob, Claire, Charles and Emily Sagona. She is also survived by her dear brothers, Joseph Ott Jr. and his fiancée, Yamile Jimenez, and James Ott and his wife, Lisa; and her nephew, Joseph Ott III and his wife, Vanessa.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
