DALZELL - John Almon Thompson Jr., 82, husband of Ema Renteria Mowen, died on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at his home.

Born in Rock Hill, he was a son of the late John Almon Thompson Sr. and Julia Herndon Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a retired staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and he was a veteran of Vietnam. He was also a former owner and operator of Thompson Auto Sales.

Surviving are three sons, John Thompson III, Darrell Saucier (Jennifer) and Shon Thompson (Ana); two daughters, Tammy Prout (Scott) and Sonya Bradley (Charles); a stepdaughter, Anita Self; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Craig Blair and Terry Thompson.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home, followed by military honors.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the home of his daughter, Sonya Bradley, 2080 Jessamyn Road, Mayesville.
