DALZELL — John Conyers Harvin Jr., 85, widower of Sally Harden Harvin, died Thursday, April 17, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Born Aug. 24, 1939, in Sumter, he was the son of the late John Conyers Harvin Sr. and the late Nellie Sue Hook Harvin. He was a member and Deacon at High Hills of Santee Baptist Church. Mr. Harvin was a co-owner of Williams Sporting Goods, retiring after more than 25 years in business. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include two children, John C. “Chip” Harvin III (Carla) of Myrtle Beach and Tammy Harvin of Florence; a stepdaughter, Lauri Beth Dowell (Kent) of Mooresville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Brandon Kutz, Hamilton Harvin Boyce (David), Jenna Whisonant (Dallas), John Conyers Harvin IV and Cameron King; three great-grandchildren, Emily Boyce, Hudson Kutz and Beckett Boyce; a niece, Susan “Mimi” Felder Mixon (Dwight) of Sumter and a nephew, James Chandler “Jimmy” Felder III (Elizabeth) of Clemson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy “Dotsy” Felder, and brother-in-law, James "Jimmy" Chandler Felder Jr.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, April 26, 2025, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel officiated by the Rev. Ron Underwood.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26, 2025, prior to the service at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
