SIMPSONVILLE - John "Elliot" Danner Jr., 70, beloved husband of 27 years to Inger Danner, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019.

Elliot was born on May 29, 1948, in Columbia, and was a son of the late Katie and John Elliot Danner Sr.

Mr. Danner is survived by his son, John Elliot Danner III (Jed) and wife, Nancy; daughter, Monica DeNoux Medlin and husband, Michael; and grandchildren, Bret Parker, Rhodes Danner, Cricket Danner, Hannah Kling, Cortney DeNoux, Caroline Medlin, Katrina Kling, Heidi Kling and Kelsey Kling. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Seidl and husband, David.

He graduated from Edmunds High School and attended North Greenville College. Elliot enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Feb. 11, 1971, and served for seven years as a radio operator. Mr. Danner then worked as an air traffic controller. After working for the government, Elliot had a long and prosperous 27-year career working as a sales representative for CLARCOR Air Filtration. An avid golfer, who loved the outdoors, Elliot was known to many at his country club as "The Mayor," for which he will be truly missed.

A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Thursday and a memorial service will follow at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast.
