JOHN DENMAN PRINCE JR.

John Denman Prince Jr., age 70, beloved husband of 46 years to Jeanne Sistrunk Prince, died on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, he was a son of the late John Denman Prince Sr. and Gertrud Maass Prince. John graduated from Clemson University and then worked with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. After 21 years of service with DNR, he then worked with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office for an additional 21 years. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, and was an avid Clemson football fan. His true joy in life came from his family. He will be remembered as a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Jeanne, he is survived by one son, John Denman Prince III of Sumter; one daughter, Jennifer Prince Erdin and her husband, Ben, of Columbia; two sisters, Patsy Logan and her husband, Randy, and Debbie Newman and her husband, Paul, all of Sumter; and two grandchildren, Jayce Prince and Josh Erdin.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Loly Ann Prince.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Bullock Funeral Home.
