WEDGEFIELD - John Lewis Burke, age 74, beloved husband of 48 years to the late Darlene Alice Rowe Burke, died on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on May 2, 1945, in Auburn, New York, he was a son of the late Leon Willis Burke and Avis Irene Dunham Burke. He attended Weedsport schools and graduated from Moravia Central High School, New York, in 1963. Mr. Burke served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and technician and was a decorated Vietnam veteran. He retired as a technical sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service. He went on to work for Sherwin Williams and later became the owner of Burke's Sharpening.

Surviving are one daughter, Conni Noel Burke of Indian Trail, North Carolina; one son, Michael John Burke of Wedgefield; three grandchildren, Chaise Leon Turbeville, Michaela Noel Burke and Connor James Mulligan; one great-grandchild, Kyleigh Turbeville; one brother, William G. Burke and his wife, Jean, of Watertown, New York; and three sisters, Joanne Konecny and her husband, Roger, of West Palm Beach, Florida, Kathy Franklin and her husband, Phil, of Locke, New York, and Sandy Radcliffe of Genoa, New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Darlene Alice Burke in 2015.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Wedgefield Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Goff officiating, for family members only.
