DALZELL - The Rev. John Westbrook Cook, 84, husband of 63 years to Lois, n e Benenhaley, died on Thursday, March 21, 2019.

Rev. Cook was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1955. Following his discharge from the Navy, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Education from Toccoa Falls Institute in Toccoa, Georgia. Rev. Cook was later ordained as a minister at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta. Rev. Cook and his family served as missionaries to Korea with Child Evangelism Fellowship ("CEF") from 1959 to 1984. He leaves a legacy of God's ministry in Korea with Korea CEF itself now sending out missionaries worldwide. Following his return from Korea, he served as vice president of overseas ministries for CEF from 1985 to 1994 in Warrenton, Missouri. He and Lois continued their work in Korea, worldwide and locally in Dalzell, until John was called home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Rev. Cook is survived by his wife, Lois; four sons, Kerry Cook, Kevin Cook, Kris Cook and Kimble Cook; his sister, Josephine; brother, Lynn; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday at Bible Fellowship Church in Sumter with the Rev. Dr. Eleazer Benenhaley and the Rev. Chris M. Moore officiating. He will be laid to rest at Long Branch Baptist Church in Dalzell, following the funeral service.

Pallbearers will be Kerry Cook, Kevin Cook, Kris Cook, Kimble Cook, Tony Carpenter and Henry Allen Benenhaley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chip Chase, Larry Chase, Jimmy Parker, Charles Dixon, Pat Buckner, Yoo Young Sun, Blaine Marshall, Mike Ray and Carlos Sandavol.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at Bible Fellowship Church.
