Joseph Lee Hart was born on Sept. 23, 1944, in Lee County, to the late Sanders and Drucilla Hart. Joe transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Beaufort Bayview Manor in Beaufort.

He was educated in the public school system of Lee County. Joe was last employed at Gold Kist in Sumter.

Joseph leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Gloria McDowell Hart; a son, Terrance (Breanna) Hart of Sumter; three stepsons, Derrick (Wanda) McDowell of Paterson, New Jersey, James Tyrone (Teresa) McDowell and Reginald (Tracy) McDowell of Sumter; one son-in-law, Wallace Wilson of Sumter; a brother, David Hart of Sumter; two sisters, Henrietta Whitaker of Summerton and Carla (Mac) Mention of Hemingway; one sister-in-law, Harriett Hart of New Hampshire; two mothers-in-law, Vela Burgess of Lynchburg and Doris Burrough of Lake City; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a daughter, Tisha Latoya Hart Wilson; three brothers, Jimmy, George and Moses Hart; two sisters, Almeta Brunson and Lottie Temoney; and a niece, Willie Hart.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Hart will be placed in the church at noon on Friday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, SC 29150 with the Rev. Bill Bennett officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home, 6 Hoyt St., Sumter, SC 29150.

Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
