JULIA ANN STONE WATERS

Julia Ann Stone Waters, 83, widow of Clifton Riley Waters, died on Monday, May 11, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, with her family by her side.

Born on May 16, 1936, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wilbur Stone and Cora Julia Geddings Stone. Mrs. Waters was a member of First Baptist Church of Sumter, where she was in the Hope/Friendship Sunday School Class. She retired from Sumter School District 17 after more than 30 years of service. She worked at Edmunds High School and retired as administrative assistant to the district superintendent. She loved spending time working in her yard.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Ann Riley Waters Parrish; her beloved grandson, Riley Neil Parrish; a brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Bessie Lou Stone; a sister-in-law, Esther Waters Ardis; brother-in-law, Ivan McLeod; several nieces and nephews; and Moose, her much loved granddog.

Mrs. Waters was preceded in death by a sister, Janie Stone McLeod.

Private graveside services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery officiated by the Rev. Dr. Bob Calvert and the Rev. Dr. Clay Smith.

A public memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Benevolence Fund of First Baptist Church, 107 E. Liberty St., Sumter, SC 29150.
