KATIE SAMUEL ANDERSON

Posted

Katie Samuel Anderson was born on April 2, 1920, in Sumter, to the late Robert and Elizabeth Samuel Richardson. Mother Katie was called home on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at the age of 102.

She was educated through the Sumter school system until the eighth grade. Katie met her soulmate, Henry Pane Anderson, and they were married at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in 1936. They remained happily married until their heavenly father called her beloved home in April 2012. Although they were never able to biologically give birth to children of their own, they became parents to many. As a valued employee of Sumter Laundry Cleaners, she assisted them with their business and greeted individuals with a smile right up to retirement at a plum age of 90.

Katie touched many lives. Being a mother to many, she was always seen as a guiding light and will be greatly missed by all her nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. at the home of Ronald and Vickey Haynesworth, 909 Clay St., Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, 4620 Queen Chapel Road, Dalzell.

The procession will leave the home at 10:50 a.m.

Burial will be in Ebenezer Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery.
