Posted

Kenneth Eugene Tindal was born on Dec. 3, 1945, in Sumter, the only child of the late James Wallace Tindal and Dorothy McBride Tindal. He departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018. The Lord called and Kenneth slept peacefully away. While at home with his family, he took an angel of God's hand and left for his heavenly home.

Kenneth was baptized at Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Many of his formal years were spent in New York, where he lived with his aunt, the late Rebecca Tindal Davis, and her son, the late Ronald Davis. Kenneth and Ronald grew up as brothers, they were always together. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School. Kenneth and Ronnie both joined the United States Army, where Kenneth spent 11 years. He later worked for the South Carolina Department of Transportation, until his retirement. He also worked for many years at K-Mart. He was the owner and operator of Tindal Lawn Service. Kenneth loved his family and spent much time checking on his aunts, uncles and cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, William McKinley "Happy Jack" (Waverly Ellerby) Washington of the home; granddaughter whom he loved dearly, Sherika Smith (Frayser) Green of Sumter; great- grandchildren, Joshua Smith and Jalaya Smith, both of Sumter; special friend, Ida Michelle Doughty; caregiver, Joseph Ellerby; a host of relatives and friends.
