The Sumter High School varsity girls basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 52-49 victory over South Florence on Tuesday at the SHS gymnasium.

Tamerah Brown led the Lady Gamecocks with 18 points. Nina Edlow added 13, while Alicia Spann had six.

Crestwood 57

Wilson 55

Crestwood High School improved to 4-0 with a 57-55 victory over Wilson on Tuesday at The Castle.

Carnashia Wells led the Lady Knights with 17 points.

Wilson was ranked No. 4 in the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association preseason poll.

Lakewood 52

Gray Collegiate 29

COLUMBIA - Tanaijah Wright scored 21 points and Treasure Smalls had a double-double in Lakewood's 52=20 victory over Gray Collegiate on Tuesday at the GC gymnasium.

Smalls finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Wright had seven rebounds and five blocked shots and three steals to go with her 21 points.

Quawnteona Billups added 10 points and five assists.

Robert E. Lee 52

Conway Christian 27

CONWAY - Caleigh Barrett had a double-double to lead Robert E. Lee Academy to a 52-27 victory over Conway Christian on Tuesday at the CC gymnasium.

Barrett had 20 points and 11 rebounds to go with five steals and three assists. Rebecca Dinkins added 17 points, five rebounds, six assists, four steals and three blocked shots for REL.

Mallory Christmas had eight points, three assists and four steals, Devin Atkinson had five points, seven rebounds and four assists, and Lacie McElveen had 10 rebounds and four steals.

TIMMONSVILLE - Scott's Branch High School rallied form an 11-point deficit after three quarters to beat Timmonsville 48-44 on Tuesday at the THS gymnasium.

Teja Madison scored 12 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Eagles to the win. Jazlynn Bowman added 10 points, Keonna Felder had seven and Rosandra Bennett six for SBHS, which outscored Timmonsville 19-4 in the final stanza.

DALZELL - Karleigh Young scored 10 points and just missed a double-double to lead Thomas Sumter Academy to a 25-21 win over Richard Winn Academy on Tuesday at Edens Gymnasium.

Young also had nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Lindsay Daniels added six points.

Lee Central 45

Lamar 14

LAMAR - Jada Rogers and Kendra LeSane both scored 17 points to lead Lee Central to a 45-14 victory over Lamar on Tuesday at the LHS gymnasium.

Keionyah Dennis added eight points, 11 rebounds and four steals for the Lady Stallions. TaShanna Harris had 12 rebounds, five assists and five steals. LeSane and Rogers both had three assists and four steals and LeSane had seven rebounds.

Brianna Jenkins had 10 rebounds and NiJeria Reddick had eight boards.

Laurence Manning 37

Pinewood Prep 27

SUMMERVILLE - Katherine Burns scored 14 points to lead Laurence Manning Academy to a 37-27 victory over Pinewood Prep on Tuesday at the PP gymnasium.

Aubrey Bennett added 11 points for LMA.

Wilson Hall improved to 3-0 with a 25-23 win over Northwood Academy on Tuesday at Nash Student Center.

Marybeth VanPatten led the Lady Barons with 11 points while coming up with five rebounds and four steals. Halle Stone had four steals and Sarah Sonntag had six rebounds.

Kalayah White scored 12 points to lead Sumter High School to a 39-8 win over South Florence on Tuesday at the SHS gymnasium.

Avian Rhodes added eight points for SHS and Avianna Johnson had five.
