Langley man, 31, shot to death near Sumter apartment complex

A Langley man, 31, died following a shooting that happened  Sunday afternoon on Hannah Street.

Officers were called to the scene after 3:30 p.m. where they found Bryan Myers shot and lying in the road after walking to a nearby business from Harmony Court Apartments when he was approached by at least two people and shots were fired, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer of the Sumter Police Department.

Myers was treated at the scene before being transported to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital where he later died.

His family was notified by the Sumter County Coroner’s Office and an autopsy was scheduled for later this week.

An investigation is ongoing to identify the person(s) involved and the reason for the shooting, McGirt said. Initial information gathered by police indicated the shooting is likely isolated.
