LARRY BERNARD CARTER SR.

Larry Bernard Carter Sr., 59, was born on Feb. 11, 1960, in Sumter, a son of James Carter and the late Johnnie Mae Harvin Carter. He departed this life on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at his residence.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a significant other, Minnie Louvenia Billie of Sumter; a father, James Carter of Sumter; sons, Larry B. (Arliesha) Carter Jr., Deontae (Amber) Carter, Adrian Carter and Jimmy (Sadiya) Carter, all of Bridgeport, Connecticut; a daughter, Blondell Carter of Bridgeport; two adopted daughters, Renee Billie and Santana Billie, both of Sumter; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Jan Upshaw (Tommie) of Birmingham, Alabama; brothers, Kenneth Carter (Deborah) of Greenville, Bruce (Angela) Carter Sr. of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Tony R. Carter (Felecia) of Birmingham and Wendell Carter of Charlotte, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially those of Friendship Apartments.

Mr. Carter will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, SC 29150 with the Rev. Burdell Hills officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at 310 Kendal Ave., Sumter, SC 29154.
