LARRY CHARLES BOLDEN SR.

Larry Charles Bolden Sr. was born on Aug. 7, 1951, in Sumter County, a son of Emma G. Russ and the late George Russ Sr.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter County and was a 1970 graduate of Ebenezer High School. He later became an active member of the Ebenezer Alumni Association. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in the Christian faith at Hopewell Baptist Church in Dalzell, where he remained a lifelong member. On Sunday, March 26, 2017, he was ordained as a deacon of Hopewell Baptist Church. In this deacon's ministry, he served diligently and was ever faithful.

On Friday evening, June 21, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, he departed this earthly life.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: his devoted wife of 45 years, Cynthia M. Bolden; four daughters, Daisy (James) Hilton, Marjorie (Patrick) Isaac, Rita Johnson and Renee Mack; four sons, Larry Bolden Jr., Alphonso Mack, Larry (Inez) Mack and David Mack; his loving mother, Emma G. Russ; seven sisters; 11 brothers; grandchildren, Tyara Bolden, Shanaya Bolden, Breanna Lucas, Brittany Lucas, Larry Bolden III, Janell (Harry) Davis, Garth Gordon and Malaya Durant; great-grandchildren, London Davis, Haliee Davis, Nevaeh Boyd, Josiah Hilton and Kangeston Gordon; a special sister-in-law, Ella Mae Mack; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his father, Deacon Bolden was preceded in death by his grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. Elijah Bolden Sr.; two brothers, Alphonso Bolden and Elijah Bolden Jr.; a sister, Yvonne C. Taylor; and a granddaughter, Courtney Lucas.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Deacon Bolden will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church, 3285 Peach Orchard Road, Dalzell, SC 29104 with the Rev. Richard Addison, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home, 3325 Valencia Drive, Sumter, SC 29040.
