LARRY DOVE GAINEY JR.

Larry Dove "Deannie" Gainey Jr., 52, died on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

Born on Sept. 11, 1968, in Sumter, he was a son of Larry Dean Gainey Sr and Faye Huggins Gainey. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He enjoyed singing karaoke with family and friends.

Survivors in addition to his parents of Sumter include two sons, Jay T. Gainey (Shelby) and Dakota C. Gainey (Abbie), both of Sumter; a granddaughter, Evelynne Gainey; a sister, Leslie Coursey (Todd) of Sumter; a brother, Michael Gainey (Yvonne) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Driggers officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his parents, 120 Hidden Bay Drive.
