Missing 3-year-old found alive, unharmed in Poinsett State Park Saturday

UPDATE: Ruby Heider was found alive and unharmed in Poinsett State Park Saturday morning around 11 a.m., according to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. Read the updated story

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Sumter Police Department, Poinsett State Park Rangers, DNR and SLED are searching for a 3-year-old who went missing Friday evening.

Around 7:30 p.m., a family that was camping in Poinsett State Park called 911 for assistance after not being able to locate 3-year-old Ruby Heider, according to Maj. Randall Stewart of the sheriff’s office.

Heider is approximately 3 feet tall and weighs about 40 pounds. She has blonder hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a tie-dyed sweatshirt and blue leggings with dinosaur pictures on them.
