The certification program is offered by the South Carolina Association of School Business Officials and designed to provide career distinction as the highest honor of professional achievement in school business management.

The program's aims are to enrich the knowledge with the intention of producing quality job performance; assist with maintaining the required skills; inspire self-regulation and a high standard of ethics; and to advance the professional principles of local business officials.

Brown completed 20 hours of coursework in budgeting, internal controls and financial management, and school finance accounting. In addition, she passed a two-part exam which tested her mastery of these skills.
