Lenora "Lee" Pierce Haas, 90, widow of Paul J. Haas, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at her home.

Born Feb. 14, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Dale C. and Elizabeth Smithra Pierce. She was employed by Crescent Tool and Bendix. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Garden Makers Garden Club. She was a board member of the YWCA and the Sumter SPCA. She was recognized among the first group in the Tribute to Women in Industry in Sumter County. Although she enjoyed many hobbies and crafts such as needlework and gardening, her greatest and most fulfilling was her painting of furnishings.

She is survived by a son, Raymond Haas (Lisa) of Sumter; a grandson, Garrett Haas; nephews, Michael Pierce (Jeannine) and daughters, Amanda and Kellie of Gloucester, Virginia, Stephan Pierce (Terry) and sons, Dale and Kyle of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and Mark Pierce of Philadelphia; and special friends, Myrtle Bynum, Jenny Wagner and Sherry Jacks, all of Sumter, and John and Aleen Poupard of Gloucester and Loretta Burr of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Haas; a brother, Donald Pierce; and sister-in-law, Marina Haas Carey.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Green Acres Cemetery with the Rev. John Sosnowski officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
