Leon Way departed this earthly life on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2021, at Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, New York.

He was born on July 15, 1954, in Manning, a son of Eva Way and the late Sumpter Way. Mr. Way relocated to New York City at a very early age, where he attended the community schools of New York City. He later relocated to Brooklyn and attended many churches in the community and did not miss a day. He was very kind to everyone.

Those who he loved so much were his family: his mother, Eva Way of Manning; sisters, Louise McCrimmons of Westchester, New York, Helen Canty (Joseph) of Manning, Sumpter Jr. Way of Staten Island, New York, Genett Way of Brooklyn, New York, Okema Way of Staten Island, New York, Christine Way of Texas and Brenda Felder of Brooklyn; three aunts, Christine Way of New York City, New York, Bertha Grinnell (James) of Sumter and Emma Jane Felder of Sumter; one uncle, James Grinnell of Sumter; numerous of nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends.

In accord with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 9329 Paxville Highway, Manning.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Paxville Cemetery, Paxville.

The procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. from the home.
