Funeral services for Mr. Leroy Jennings will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 803 S. Harvin St. in Sumter, with Marion H. Newton, pastor, and bishop Jeffery Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Community Deliverance Temple Cemetery in Manning.

A public viewing will be held on from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday at the mortuary.

Mr. Leroy "Gooley" Jennings, the husband of Rosa Lee Jennings, was born June 11, 1934, in Lee County, to the late James and Colzie Cooke Jennings Sr.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by four sisters, Laney J. Davis, Mable J. Blandshaw, Irene Davis and Beatrice James Johnson; and four brothers, Fortune Jennings, James Jennings Jr., George Jennings and Lucious Jennings.

Leroy "Gooley" transitioned from this life on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, in Sumter.

Leroy "Gooley" leaves to cherish his memory his dedicated wife of 50 years, Rosa Lee Jennings; three daughters, Dina Brunson, Michelle Brunson and Brenda Brunson; a son, Yancy Jennings; a sister, Frances Davis; two brothers, Mark Austin and Luke Austin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margaret Montgomery, Algie Green, Linda (Larry) Bradshaw, Frances Montgomery, Willie Jennings, Ivey Jennings and Fred Prescott; a daughter-in-law, Shelia Jennings; special nieces, Patricia Ford, minister Lillie Washington and Kathy Jennings; and a host of other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving friends from 4 to 9 p.m. each day at 5660 Rivers Road in Sumter.
