Letter to the editor: Smoak stepped up to help make a difference in Afghanistan

Posted

I am extremely proud of Chase Smoak for his efforts in getting his former Afghan interpreter with his wife out of the country.

In the midst of one of the worst foreign policy disasters in recent memory, Chase (a fellow Marine veteran) stepped forward, as many Afghanistan veterans are doing. Unfortunately, many U.S. citizens and Afghans in danger will not make it out.

Chase not only served in Afghanistan, but is still making a difference. He was trained not to leave people behind.

President Ronald Reagan once said, "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. The Marines don't have that problem."
