Letter to the editor: We should try something different to be rid of pandemic

This is in reference to the letter to the editor on Oct. 15, 2021.

I am happy that you took my information about masks seriously and found out for yourself "the negative toll wearing a mask while exercising at the gym has had on your energy levels and even your breathing." I admire you for "wearing a mask so much it has become a normal thing for you." I have heard others say the same thing. I have not. I also admire you for "still wearing it not only for your own safety, but for others around me as well." Wearing it for your own safety, I understand, wearing it for others sounds like you also agree with "socialism." As far as "living in California during the pandemic," I'm sorry for you. I live in South Carolina, and we still have constitutional rights.

I see you have solved your problem with ventilation by "getting a mask with an air vent to avoid this happening." I don't intend to make mask businesses richer, but I will remember your advice if someone asks me about it.

People who "are asymptomatic can still spread the pathogen to others" is why you wear a mask. I bet I'm a good bit older than you, so I can say that people have been getting sick forever and we haven't had to wear masks, why now? I'm all for wearing masks if you want to. People can wear two or three or as many as they want, it's up to them. I choose to not wear even one unless I have to go to a place like the hospital.

I, too, want this pandemic to be over, I can't believe we have put up with it for so long, but I don't see that happening any time soon, so maybe we should try something different. You know what they say about people doing things over and over expecting different results. If "everyone had the same mindset to avoid spreading the virus" then we would all be mindless followers of, I would like to call them liars but that wouldn't be nice, so I will say the people who are suppose to be in charge. You know the ones that like to keep telling us what to do when they keep changing their minds, so they can keep us confused forevermore.

My advice for you, start thinking for yourself, question what you hear, and ask if what you are hearing makes sense. What you do after that is up to you. Waiting to hear from you again.
